Sponsored New Member Program
In 2027 WFRN is launching a Sponsored New Member Program. Current and former WFRN members are eligible to nominate colleagues, PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, or other early-career scholars to receive a free 2027 WFRN membership ($220 value) as well as advance their careers by guiding them to effectively use WFRN resources.
Eligibility
For an individual to be eligible for this sponsored membership, they must:
- Be nominated by a current or former WFRN member
- Never held a WFRN membership.
Nomination

Nominators will be asked to provide contact information and the contact details of the nominee(s). No additional application materials are required. If the nominee has never been member of the WFRN, they will receive an invitation to join the WFRN at no cost in 2027. If the nominee accepts that nomination, the nominator will receive notification that the sponsored membership is secured.
Nominations must be received no later than November 15, 2026.
Guidance and Support
When nominators are notified that their nominee received a sponsored membership, they will receive instructions on how to guide and support the award recipient to take advantage of WFRN resources and opportunities, which include:
- Developing conference paper or poster submissions for WFRN conferences
- Developing a professional profile that can be posted on the WFRN Experts Panel
- Crafting announcements of career successes that can be posted on WFRN’s LinkedIn social media platform
- Utilizing WFRN teaching resources, including the new Big Ideas in the Classroom series
- Participating in WFRN Virtual Conference Series events
- Applying for Early Career Fellowship Awards
- Applying for Global South Travel Awards.
