This research and teaching position offers a 50% contract for three years (renewable for two years further). For predoctoral candidates, the expectation is that the dissertation will be written also. The successful candidate is expected to advance her/his own professional development and qualifications. For research, a Ph.D. candidate in this position will conduct an innovative PhD in the intersection of sociology of work, leadership, life course, inequality, and / or family. Postdocs will work on qualifying themselves for professorships. The successful candidate, whether pre-doc or postdoc, would add insights and energy to existing and joint future research projects. Teaching involves one Bachelor of Sociology course per semester (each class meets for 90 minutes each week for 14-15 weeks of the semester, two semesters per year). Areas of teaching are open within the sociology of work, occupations, and related fields, based on the candidate’s interest and departmental needs to create a variety of course offerings. Teaching could also be at the Masters level for the Masters in Sociology and the Masters in Economic Sociology if the candidate already has a doctoral degree. We have occasional university or department responsibilities. The position should be a step for the candidate towards an academic career.
