Lifetime Award Nomination Procedures
Award Purpose
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes extraordinary scholars who have made enduring contributions to the work-family community. The award is selected by the Executive Board of the WFRN.
Award
Recipients receive a framed award certificate.
Eligibility
Nominees must be WFRN members in the year the award will be made. Currently serving Executive Board members are not eligible to receive the award.
Nomination Procedures
- Nominations are directed to the Executive Officer at info@wfrn.org. Recipients are selected by the Executive Board.
- Upon recommendation of the award selection committee, nominations can be rolled over, once, for consideration in the next awards cycle. Roll over nominations can be updated by the nominator or nominee in advance of subsequent deliberation.
- Self-nominations are not permitted.
The nomination must contain the following elements:
- A letter of nomination summarizing the nominee’s lifetime contributions to the work-family community.
- The nominee’s vitae

Selection Procedure
Recipients will be selected in consideration of the following criteria:
- Volume of contributions in consideration of discipline
- Impact of contributions to the work-family community
- Enduring commitment to the work-family community
Award Nomination and Selection Schedule
- The Executive Officer posts call for nominations and applications – September 1st, October 1st, November 1st, and December 1st of the non-conference year.
- Nominations and application deadline – February 1st of the conference year.
- The Executive Officer advances nominations to the Executive Board – March 1st of the conference year.
- If the Executive Board determines no nominee is satisfactory or no nominations are received, the Executive Board can collectively identify one or more promising candidates and identify which of these individual(s) to contact and in what order to encourage self-nomination(s) following the procedures outlined above.
- Award Committee chair notifies recipient – April 15th of the conference year.
- Award is presented at the biennial conference awards ceremony.
