Definition(s):

“Job-protected leaves from employment for fathers, for many of the same purposes as maternity and parental leaves, but especially for reasons of gender equity. They are usually much briefer than maternity leaves, function as supplements to such leaves, and are especially important when a second child is born and the first child requires care while mother and newborn may need help. Take-up is usually quite high for these leaves, in contrast to fathers’ use of parental leaves.
