“Adult Day Care Centers offer social, recreational and health-related services to individuals in a protective setting who cannot be left alone during the day because of health care and social need, confusion or disability” (Department of Health and Human Services).
“A community-based group program designed to meet the needs of functionally impaired elders and older adults who can benefit from participating in group settings. Most programs include an individualized plan of care, group exercise, adult education classes and recreation, nutritious meals, and social work services. In addition, these programs make respite for caregivers possible, and provide support groups for participants and caregivers” (Bookman, p. 85).
