I study how gendered economic change and inequality become tangible in everyday life. My work applies multiple, largely qualitative methods to a range of global cases: state-building feminism in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the United States fitness industry, reproductive health in Kenya, and digital information in France and the US. Across projects, my research shows how relational and emotion work shape micro-level lived experiences of macro-level gendered economic transformations, especially the changing gender of breadwinning.
