Anna Kurowska is an interdisciplinary researcher whose work lies at the intersection of social policy, economics, demography and sociology.
Through her research, she mainly explores the impact of work-related policies, such as paid parental leave and access to institutional childcare, on maternal employment, fertility and work-life balance. Anna Kurowska’s research also highlights the modifying role cultural context has on these relationships.
She is also conducting comparative analysis of care regimes from the Capability Approach perspective.
Anna Kurowska has also researched the relationship between welfare regimes and (inter)national solidarity, social assistance and political participation, as well as the impact of economic crisis on working conditions.
She is currently leading Familydemic – a collaborative international project and a network of researchers. Its goal is to advance the theoretical explanations, methods and empirical foundations for studying the diverse immediate and long-term consequences of policy responses to the COVID-19 outbreak for the distribution of paid and unpaid work in couples and their labour market and family outcomes in diverse welfare regime contexts. The cooperating countries are: Canada, Germany, Italy, Poland, Sweden and the US. For more information visit: https://familydemic.wnpism.uw.edu.pl/
