Andrea Doucet is Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies at Brock University, Honorary Professor at University College London, and a recent Tier I Canada Research Chair in Gender, Work and Care. She serves as Project Director and Principal Investigator of the Canadian SSHRC Partnership program, Reimagining Care/Work Policies and Co-Coordinator of the International Network of Leave Policies and Research.

Andrea is an interdisciplinary care scholar and qualitative researcher. Most of her scholarly and public writing explores varied dimensions of care – as everyday work and activities, care policies and services, connections between paid work and unpaid care work, care time, care as part of methodologies and epistemologies, ethics of care and justice, and interconnections between human and ecological caregiving and care receiving. She is the author of several books, including the award-winning book Do Men Mother? (University of Toronto Press [UTP] 2006, 2018) and two forthcoming books (2026): Care Leaves and Care Time for All: Towards Caring Democracies, Economies, and Worlds (co-authored with Peter Moss, Policy Press) and the Routledge International Handbook on the Listening Guide Method: A Feminist Relational Approach (coedited with Carol Gilligan and Natasha Mauthner).

Andrea was a proud presenter of a 2024 WFRN Big Ideas Talk entitled: “Nothing Exists Alone”: Three Lessons about Care from Ecologist Rachel Carson.
