European Consortium for Sociological Research

Location: Determined Annually

Time: Fall Annually

The purpose of the ECSR, founded in 1991, is to promote theory-driven empirical research in sociology in Europe, particularly by encouraging cooperation between research centres. Currently, more than 90 leading European research institutes and university departments are members of the Consortium.

The ECSR organizes yearly conferences and annual graduate schools. It offers internship grants for graduate students and awards a yearly prize for the best PhD thesis among candidates from the ECSR member institutes.

The European Sociological Review (ESR) is the Consortium’s official journal.

Membership is open to research institutes and university departments in all European countries.

You will find more information about the range of ECSR activities as well as indications on how to apply for membership on this website.
