The Big Ideas in the Classroom Resources are designed to facilitate use of the Big Ideas video series, developed by Ellen Galinsky in her work as the 2023-2024 President of the Work and Family Researchers Network. The initial videos were filmed at the 2024 WFRN Conference in Montreal Canada. To select speakers, President Galinsky invited the Program Committee and the WFRN Executive Board to nominate scholars and practitioners with the most compelling new ideas in the work-family field and 20 were chosen. Designed to be like the best TED Talks, the films, are approximately 15 minutes in length and highlight promising strategies for life effectiveness, organizational functioning and social policy advancement. The entire library of Big Ideas videos can be found at this link: https://wfrn.org/big-ideas-videos/.
The Big Ideas Talks were designed to be used in classrooms. In their talks, speakers present their findings in compelling and memorable ways –through data, stories, and slides. It’s like having leading scholars and practitioners as guest speakers in your class! The talks can be used as standalone presentations or as a supplement to readings or topics in your curriculum. They are well-suited for undergraduate or graduate students in the social sciences and business.
